Transformation and Training for a Mobile Workforce: Lessons Learned

Brief:

The King’s Fund held the International Digital Health and Care Congress: Improving health through the use of technology. The King’s Fund asked for papers on  ‘Digitally enabling service transformation’ Melissa Andison and myself had a paper accepted on ‘Transformation and Training for a Mobile Workforce.’

The presentation highlighted some the challenges experienced implementing mobile working into daily practice. The presentation shared lessons learned in the form of transformation tips. Key strategies were revealed to the audience: clinician centered transformation; appoint mobile working champions; capture creativity; secure buy in from all stakeholders; change working culture; monitor and measure; device setup & management; multi-dimensional training and; holistic support. The presentation demonstrated the close collaboration required between front-line clinicians, IT and the transformation process to adopt mobile working.
