At the end of October 2025, I headed out to Karlsruhe with my Dad. Taking Eurostar again to avoid flying, partly for environmental reasons and partly because the train is just more pleasant.
We had a day wandering around Karlsruhe before the rest of the party arrived; and then set to explore the area. The first day we took in the palace gardens.
The weather held out for the most part and on the Tuesday we headed out to see the Old Castle at Hohenbaden.
On the Wednesday we went to Castle Hill Tower and walked from there to the town of Herrenberg and then on the thursday we did the mill trail from Ottenhöfen.
On the last day we walked along the river from Lichtenthal abbey to the old centre of Baden-Baden, picking off the main tourist points.
