It being the 25th June I shouldn’t have been surprised at the length of queues at Birmingham Airport, I managed to get my flight to Spain though and everything went smoothly in the end.
The plan was to drive to Santander and fly back from there. I arrived in Madrid on Thursday evening. We headed out after Jorge had finished work on Friday.
We spent Friday night in Burgos one of Spains ancient capitals (in this case the capital of the Kingdom of Castille). We had dinner next to the Cathedral and then watched the Spain game (there was World cup on).
On Saturday we drove to Orbaneja del Castillo for Lunch and stopped briefly in Escalada to visit their famous waterfall, before ending the day in Polientes.
Sunday we left early for the Ebro reservoir, we stopped for a coffee and walked around the southern point of the reservoir before driving around it to Puerto de la Población for Lunch where we were entertained by live Saxaphone player. Then finally we headed off to Santander.
